1972

Steve Einhorn and Eric Yaffee establish an architecture firm in Albany, NY. Andy Prescott joins in 1973, and they form Einhorn Yaffee Prescott, later to become EYP

1970s

The firm adds MEP engineering and starts an energy studio, becoming an interdisciplinary firm. Interior design and graphic design are added soon after.

1983

EYP completes The Friary, a housing project at Siena College, marking the firm’s first higher education project.

1984

The first two significant healthcare projects – The Sam Houston Memorial Hospital, and St. Luke’s Episcopal/Texas Children’s – are completed

1986

Adaptive re-use of Albany Union Station to Fleet Bank Headquarters earns the firm 14 awards, a television documentary and a published book, propelling the firm to national recognition.

1992

EYP begins engineering and preservation work at the US Embassy in Rome, the start of an international journey that would lead to work in over 100 countries over the next 30 years.

1993

Renovation of a Children’s Cardiac Intensive Care Unit to be a welcoming and family-friendly environment starts the firm’s growth towards being a top pediatric design firm.

1997

Launch of the Tradewell Fellowship, an immersive program that continues today to provide aspiring architects with real-world experience and hands-on mentorship.

2002

Certification of the firm’s first LEED Gold project, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Satellite Operations Facility in Maryland.

2006

The firm’s interdisciplinary design practice grows by adding Environmental Graphic Design to provide purposeful wayfinding, branding and placemaking.

Gallery 100 is established to explore the connection between the fine arts and architecture. The gallery showcases artwork produced by local and nationally recognized artists, in all mediums.

For two consecutive years, EYP is ranked number one in sustainability by Architect 50.

2021

EYP introduces Sustainable Landscapes to design healthier, more productive environments from the ground up.
