Arriving at the Pierpont Inn, a Tribute Hotel, the guest and community are greeted by the historic Arts and Crafts building with a new, activated arrival plaza and wine garden. Much like this arrival point, the buildings have been peeled away gently to reveal their historical origins, releasing pinch points in building adjacencies, improving circulation and opening and expanding the guest experience to light and air. The existing buildings throughout the resort have been recladded to mimic their origins’ simple, natural materials.

While the architecture of each building is distinct in its own style, representing the era in which it was built, the carefully composed ground plane stitches the building together into a cohesive whole. A warm, dark, natural material palette is a consistent base for each building, allowing the landscape to serve a more prominent visual role. Finer details, ornamentation and material type and application speak to a building’s unique architectural style and embrace the variety found at the Pierpont Inn. Additive architectural elements such as exterior stairs and trellises are intended to contrast the existing historic buildings with a light, delicate and contemporary expression.
