My focus as an interior designer is directly linked to improving the lives of those who are often overlooked. I believe that equitable interior design is an aspect that warrants further development, and I explore ways to combine my previous professional experience working in the field of affordable housing with my current career to ultimately help contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty. I believe that good design can do just that.
As designers, we are able to influence and shape the way people live and experience life. If we can focus on making equity a top priority, we can help begin to overcome many of the social problems that have plagued so many communities for far too long. Interior design is not merely about creating exceptional interiors but healthy and sustainable ones that directly contribute to the betterment of the occupants’ lives and the communities they inhabit.
