NeoCon2016: Industry Recognition
NeoCon is an annual design destination for Page. The largest design exposition and conference for commercial interiors in North America is always an educational experience and an opportunity to share expertise. Page employees from offices around the country kicked off the multiple days of non-stop resources, ideas and tours at NeoCon2016 with two key events.
On the first day, a Page project was honored with a national award for its design. Healthcare for the Homeless - Houston, a non-profit, received an Inspirations Award from Contract Magazine in partnership with Tandus Centiva in recognition of commercial interior architecture and design that improves the quality of life for those in need. The client also received a $1,000 grant to further its involvement in improving their community.
Healthcare for the Homeless - Houston promotes health, hope and dignity for its clients through accessible and comprehensive care. Page worked closely with the non-profit from initial concept through completion to ensure its new clinic met the needs and services of the distinct, and often, complex, health and social needs of the homeless. The design of the space incorporates necessary durable materials and key safety and security measures without looking like "a bus terminal", providing functional, welcoming and beautiful spaces for clients.
The following day, Page Principal Jamie Flatt co-presented a seminar given at NeoCon that generated a lot of buzz on digital media and subsequent coverage on Contract Magazine's website. Along with two other graduates of the 2015 Steelcase Fellowship, Nadia Borras Markovic and Patrick McCarthy, Jamie created a presentation titled Leveraging Neuroscience For Focus, Creativity, And Learning which explained how to prepare the brain for specific areas of focus creativity through the study of neuroscience and the usage of design thinking methods.
