Senior Electrical Designer
For Eerik, engineering is all about being creative because it is always something new and every project is a unique design. With fourteen years of experience, he is a professional engineer in Estonia and working toward his professional license in Texas. Eerik enjoys the challenges of the projects and the continuous problem solving that comes with the job.
He began his career in Estonia, after studying electrical power engineering at Tallinn University of Technology. He initially worked as a utility design engineer for medium and low-voltage power distribution before changing course and focusing on MEP design. He has spent much of his career developing his expertise in data center design in the U.S. and Canada and notes a recent renovation of an existing data center as one of his favorite projects.
“The main goal of the project was to verify and update existing one-line diagram through site investigation, verify all the protective device settings, provide recommendations for the settings through the protective device coordination study, and lastly perform arc flash analysis providing new arc flash labels,” he says. “The project was a good mix of practical experience with an existing equipment on site along with deep theoretical knowledge in order to perform electrical system analysis.”
Due to his extensive experience, Eerik is comfortable working across disciplines and sectors. He believes that everyone is capable of learning anything and it is only a matter of putting forth the effort and time. As a busy father of three, Eerik’s children occupy all of his free time.
