Erik R. Mansell P.E.
Senior Associate / Senior Civil Engineer
Erik Mansell knew he wanted to be an engineer when he competed in a Michigan state science competition in high school, where he and his team came in first place in the “laser shoot” event, which required the winning team to properly orient a series of prisms and clear containers filled with liquids of a known specific gravity to shoot their laser through the obstacles at the center of the target. This experience, he says, is what inspired his career objective.
Erik has had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of projects including federal government facilities, urban public infrastructure, hospitals, data centers, schools, and many other technically challenging engagements. The various projects led him to the conclusion that teamwork during a design process is the key factor to success.
“I enjoy collaborating with both my colleagues in the civil group, and the other disciplines,” he says. “Successful collaboration during the design process leads to a superior design, and reduces the potential for unanticipated problems during construction.”
Erik received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1993, and has since achieved professional registration in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Florida and Michigan. In addition to his academic studies, Erik was a competitive gymnast in college and now enjoys coaching his son’s soccer team, hiking, camping, running and playing soccer.
