Travis Poole PE
Senior Associate / Structural Engineer
Travis Poole has enjoyed building things for as long as he can remember. In school, math and science were always his favorite subjects so architectural engineering was a natural choice for his undergraduate degree.
Since beginning his career, Travis says he's learned more than he could have imagined about the process that creates the built environment. "In an ever-evolving industry, there will always be more to learn. This is one of many reasons why I enjoy what I do. It’s always challenging and I’m always learning."
His Masters degree in Civil Engineering helps him relish the challenge of integrating design codes with the architect’s vision. Travis cites the W. E. Hickson poem 'Try, Try Again' when designing a structure. He says, "When you finally get a working model, there’s always a sense of relief."
One of his favorite projects is an addition to a FAB in the Philippines which was designed for resilience against seismic activity, typhoon force winds and the potential for large quantities of volcanic ash on the roof. Another is an addition to the engineering quad at his alma mater, the University of Oklahoma.
When asked for career advice from younger architects and engineers, Travis tells them, "I think when we’re able to have a better understanding of what other disciplines need to accomplish, the design process is much easier. Being able to easily collaborate with other disciplines is one reason why Page is a great place to work."
