Sceptre Hospitality Resources (SHR) US Headquarters
Houston, TX United States
Sceptre Hospitality Resources (SHR) is a rapidly growing Houston-based technology company. In less than 15 years, the company has evolved from a tech startup to a global entity with offices in Houston, Spain and Singapore. In 2017, SHR hired Page to envision a new headquarters that would accommodate their rapid growth, protect them from natural disasters and offer flexibility for future workplace needs. The result is a “home at which employees work”, according to the client.
The success of the company is based on its strong culture of collaboration and innovation and the process of designing its new headquarters with Page was based on those core values. Opportunities for employees to also experience these types of engagement occur throughout the office at individual desks, client training sessions, meetings, daily stand-ups, ad-hoc brainstorming, videoconferences and walk-by inspirations.
These are supported by the integration of ubiquitous BYOD (bring your own device) hotspots, flexible furniture, touchdown spaces and in a nod to the company’s heritage, whiteboard walls. The entire office space is a tool for ongoing production of what SHR calls an ‘Archeology of ideas’. Page integrated the client’s brand colors in finishes throughout as a continuous cultural reinforcement.
The heart of the new SHR workplace is the Forum which opens up to panoramic views of the city’s skyline. It serves as the point of arrival for guests, clients, staff and future recruits. Page incorporated the warmth and amenities of a boutique hotel lobby with the hip vibe of a technology hub. A variety of settings in this space allows teams to meet, individuals to retreat and all hands-on-deck to gather.
SHR’s new workplace is designed to be open, fluid and washed in natural daylight. Few enclosed offices belonging to managers feature glass fronts to promote transparency and accessibility to all team members. Interior core spaces can be used to store equipment in advance of an approaching tropical system, a lesson the company learned years ago in another space.
Page provided programming, furniture planning and interior design.
