Massachusetts boasts 114 colleges and universities, so it’s no wonder Boston attracts the best and the brightest. Our rigorous design chops and youthful attitude reflect the city’s “wicked smaht” energy. But we also have a healthy respect for tradition, bringing you best practices with everything from higher ed to government projects. In this city of "bricks and brownstones," we’ve got ivy league goals and aspirations for every project.

Boston Imagines Possibilities for New Office Design

EYP Boston recently held a design charrette for its soon-to-be new location between downtown Boston and the emerging Seaport District. "It’s clear this is the perfectly timed opportunity to apply everything we’ve learned and re-conceive how we work together in a new space that is all about productivity, wellness and creative collaborations!" said Boston Managing Principal Chris Baylow. The Boston office is moving to its new location in 2022.

Fireside Chat with Jhana Senxian of the Guild

Several Boston staff attended PWC Boston’s Fireside Chat with Jhana Senxian, CEO & Founder of The Guild and Sanctuari Space. The event was organized and moderated by EYP’s Kelly Bliss, Co-Chair of PWC Boston’s Program Committee. In the relaxed, living-room setting of its existing headquarters at 260 Washington Street in Dorchester, over 40 attendees were captivated by Jhana’s compelling vision for her hybrid model of systems change and BIPOC community prosperity.

The Guild is currently in design of a new 150,000SF mixed-use Sanctuary Development featuring affordable housing, adult and child day care, business incubator spaces, health and wellness studios, as well as flexible areas for art, education and performance. EYP & Shawmut sponsored the event, as the design-build team delivering the project and serving as founding partners in the development of AEC training programs and industry partnerships to enable BIPOC business and individual growth. Exciting updates to come as the concept design develops…!

Boston Outreach Helps Combat Food Insecurity

Members of our Boston office have been donating their time (and muscle) throughout the summer at Food Link. It’s an amazing organization that redirects surplus food from restaurants, wholesalers and grocery stores to people in the Boston community who are most in need. Our dedicated volunteers will continue to receive, sort and pack at Food Link throughout the Fall.

Pencils and Pints

Recently, we’ve started a tradition of coming together once a week to sketch and enjoy drinks. Enjoy some of our latest work!

Northeastern University COVID Testing Lab

With the fall semester in full swing, NU is implementing a rigorous testing protocol for students, faculty and staff. The biggest challenge is not administering the tests, but processing the results in a timely fashion. Rather than rely on a third party lab, NU is taking it on themselves, and asked EYP to help. We are now in the second phase of converting shell space in the EYP designed Mixed-use Research Building, the flagship facility on NU’s Innovation Campus in Burlington, into their primary testing facility. The second phase will be designed and built in less than four weeks, and when complete, the lab will process up to 10,000 samples per day.

Walk for Hunger

We hit the bricks on Sunday, May 3 to support those most in need of help by raising funds for COVID-19 crisis hunger relief. Sponsored by Project Bread, a Massachusetts-based non-profit that provides food to families that need it the most, The Walk for Hunger went virtual this year and so did we. Our team hailed from Maine, New Hampshire, the Adirondacks, and of course in and around Boston. Remon Boules and his family led our team by clocking 11 miles!

Team Building!

Team EYP Boston/Gilbane's dedicated and persistent CANstructors achieved lift-off when we participated in the 24th annual CANstruction Boston. "Can" you guess how many ounces of tuna it takes to build a hot air balloon? 12,000! That's 750 lbs of tuna team EYP Boston/Gilbane donated to the Merrimack Valley food bank.

Community Partnerships

EYP sponsored and hosted the first virtual Design Museum Morning event with our design build partner Gilbane Construction. The topic, “Sustainability of an Evolving Skyline” garnered a lot of attention. Jacob Higginbottom, EYP Boston Project Executive, moderated the event with 60+ attendees from around the country.

Community Involvement

We love to support local events! We recently sponsored a panel on 'Campus Capital Renewal Programs' hosted by PWC Boston (Professional Women in Construction) at Boston University. EYP Boston's Kelly Bliss was the PWC Event Chair and Moderator. With every seat sold out it was a great success.
