The ABIA Terminal and FIS Expansion provides much needed TSA and Customs passenger processing improvements at an airport experiencing some of the fastest growth in the nation. The Concourse level expansion includes an 8-lane TSA Security Screening Checkpoint, expandable to up to 10-lanes in the future, within a high-volume, open, day-lit space, as well as new concessions amenity space. At the Baggage Claim level, the project creates a new Customs screening facility, increasing international arrivals processing from 100 passengers/hour to 600 passengers/hour, utilizing new processes and technologies to facilitate trusted-traveler programs and increased kiosk-based automation. The project also provides expansion of the domestic baggage claim area. This LEED Silver project focuses on improving the passenger experience by reducing passenger wait times through its functional design while enhancing passenger satisfaction with beautiful welcoming spaces. The project added an 800-ton chiller to existing 3,400 ton central plant and redesigned the 16” chilled water and 10” hot water mains from a remote central plant to the terminal.
