The first phase of this 20,000 sf child development center includes eight classrooms, administrative support spaces, central kitchen, a library, and an STEM/art room. The classroom modules step back along the slender curving site to define private courtyards directly accessible from each classroom. When demand justifies expansion, the client can build eight additional classrooms without disrupting operations of the existing facility thanks to the strategic layout. The second phase will expand the center to 31,000-square feet and accommodate a total of 254 children. The site’s long and narrow proportions were the driving force behind the slender stepped plan and the phased construction strategy.
