This confidential project consists of a new 30 MW expansion to an existing data center campus in Iowa. The main goals for the project were reduced time to market and establishment of a data center design / construction that can incorporate new technology without requiring significant structural modifications. Design of the data center expansion required accommodation of a phased delivery of each Colocation to allow for incremental increases of critical IT capacity growth over time without interruption to normal operations. The master plan was developed to maximize capacity on site while maintaining flexibility for a four phased deployment. Phase I contains one 8 MW single story data center launch building housing a Tier 2 IDF network, two X-Archive spaces, & support space. Phases II, III, & IV add 7.2 MW data center expansion modules each for an overall capacity of approximately 30 MW. Electrical design provided for a scalable build-out using modular factory integrated components and the facility achieves 99.999% reliability with dual corded IT and network loads with redundancy through a maintenance reserve generator (MR). The project is pursuing LEED Gold Certification.
