Page was engaged by the Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation (HPARC) to develop a signage and wayfinding system for Hemisfair. The original site of the 1968 World’s Fair, Hemisfair is located in the heart of downtown San Antonio. Working closely with HPARC on the Hemisfair Redevelopment project, our role has included the design of wayfinding, environmental graphics, placemaking and donor recognition elements for the site. Our work for Phase 1 of the project (Yanaguana Garden), is currently in fabrication. The signage and wayfinding system we developed utilizes natural material local to the region. As a desire of the client, the signage system successfully feels like an extension of the park environment rather than signs placed in a park. As part of the review and approval process for this project, we held work sessions and gained approval from several stakeholders including HPARC, the City of San Antonio and the HDRC (Historic Design and Review Commission). We are also developing a signage, wayfinging and graphics system for the La Villita Historic Arts District across the street, working with the City of San Antonio.
