A joint initiative for the U.S. Department of State, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Barbados Ministry of Health, the new building allowed the Barbadian government to consolidate three of its public health laboratories into one facility. The design supports the important research and testing of the Ministry and establishes one of the key medical facilities in the Caribbean.

The two-story, 22,000 SF facility houses BSL-3 and BSL-2 laboratories, administrative offices, training and meeting rooms, and laboratory support functions. The lab space includes hematology, serology, molecular biology, TB, bacteriology, chemical pathology, and quality assurance departments.
