JSC Building 20
NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, Texas, undertook the construction of Building 20, also known as the LEED Office Facility for Transition (LOFT), to provide transitional office space during the refurbishment of existing facilities. This three-story, 83,205-square-foot building houses approximately 520 employees. Page provided third-party commissioning to fulfill LEED Fundamental and Enhanced Building Commissioning requirements. The LOFT earned LEED Platinum status for its comprehensive sustainable design and construction practices.
The building's energy performance exceeds standard office buildings by 57%, achieved through a highly efficient building envelope, underfloor air distribution system (UFAD), total energy recovery wheel, and solar hot water harvesting, supplying 18% of the building's domestic hot water consumption. The commissioned systems included the energy recovery ventilator, chilled water booster pumps, air handling units, terminal units, building automation system, the UFAD, and building enclosure integrity to meet project requirements. Through performance-driven design and meticulous commissioning, the LOFT exemplifies NASA's commitment to innovation, efficiency, and the future of high-performing workplaces.
