Confidential Semiconductor Manufacturer Building 39 Central Utility Plant (CUP) & Building 51X
At this Boise site, leading-edge infrastructure is the foundation for operational excellence and the expansion of high-performance semiconductor facilities. The Building 39 Central Utility Plant (CUP) & Building 51X projects exemplify strategic advancements that enhance efficiency, sustainability, and scalability—optimizing today’s operations while future-proofing for tomorrow’s breakthroughs.
Since the early 2000s, our longstanding partnership with this Confidential Semiconductor Manufacturer has been instrumental in driving continuous innovation and maintaining industry leadership. Through forward-thinking infrastructure solutions, we have built a resilient, adaptable utility framework that supports sustained growth and meets the evolving demands of semiconductor manufacturing. These investments reinforce a commitment to scalability, reliability, and the next generation of semiconductor excellence.
Building 39 Central Utility Plant
A 58,000-square-foot Central Utility Plant (CUP) is redefining operational excellence, delivering essential infrastructure to support the B51 R&D wafer fabrication facility. Designed as a multi-functional hub, the CUP integrates critical utility services, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and scalability for advanced semiconductor production.
Engineered for performance:
- High bay design: Service platforms maximize accessibility for streamlined maintenance and equipment optimization.
- Advanced water & waste treatment: Comprehensive systems for Ultrapure Water (UPW) pre-treatment, Industrial Waste (IW) neutralization, reclaim water processing, hydrofluoric waste/sludge management, and future Fab Metals Waste treatment.
- Exhaust systems: Dedicated scrubbers efficiently manage general exhaust, acid, and ammonia treatment for environmental safety.
- Comprehensive utility support: Seamlessly delivers nitrogen, power, network, potable and non-potable water, and sanitary sewer services.
Strategic connectivity & future-ready design
A dedicated facilities trestle links the CUP to B51X, designed to accommodate pyrophoric gas lines alongside essential building services. This enclosed and heated environmental chase maintains optimal 65-degree Fahrenheit operating conditions, while its modular structure ensures seamless scalability for future fabrication expansion.
Purpose-built for efficiency, sustainability, and adaptability, the new CUP is a cornerstone of Boise’s next-generation semiconductor manufacturing.
Building 51X
These projects demonstrate leading-edge infrastructure solutions that drive operational efficiency and future scalability at the Boise site.
This project marked a major expansion of Building 51X, completing its unfinished space and converting it into a 54,000-square-foot ISO Class 5 turbulent flow cleanroom ballroom. Designed for precision and performance, the transformation was strategically executed to ensure that existing fabrication operations remained uninterrupted during construction.
Key features driving innovation:
- ISO Class 5 cleanroom expansion: 54,000 square feet of high-precision space for advanced semiconductor fabrication.
- Integrated catwalk system: Optimized interstitial space for efficient coordination with Automated Material Handling Systems (AMHS).
- Advanced air & electrical systems: Seamless integration of critical infrastructure to support high-performance operations.
Scalable infrastructure & seamless integration
The project also required a major expansion of CUP B39 systems to support Building 51X, introducing enhanced chilled and hot water systems, compressed dry air (CDA), waste treatment, and ultra-pure water (UPW) services. Every aspect was meticulously coordinated to optimize space, streamline installation, and ensure future scalability—delivering an infrastructure that is as agile as it is powerful.
These projects demonstrate leading-edge infrastructure solutions that drive operational efficiency and future scalability at the Boise site.
