Confidential Wafer Manufacturer Building A Phase 1

Location
Sherman, Texas
Size
Three-level Water Manufacturing Building – 1,720,000 GSF, Water Treatment Building – 16,500 GSF, Warehouse Outbuilding - 23,000 GSF

A new 300-millimeter silicon wafer manufacturing facility in North Texas represents a major advancement for the semiconductor industry and the regional economy. As the foundation of modern electronics, silicon wafers are essential to semiconductor fabrication. However, with the majority of wafer production occurring overseas, the U.S. has faced longstanding supply chain vulnerabilities.

This facility is the first of its kind in over 20 years, closing a critical gap in domestic manufacturing. By bringing wafer production back to the U.S., it strengthens supply chain resilience, reduces reliance on imports, and fuels innovation. This factory is a strategic investment in America’s technological leadership, ensuring the nation remains at the forefront of semiconductor advancements.

The facility’s design reflects the precision and innovation of its advanced technology. Clad in high-performance insulated metal panels, the buildings balance function with aesthetics. Subtle variations in color and texture define the entryway, where highly reflective glazing with a blue sheen pays homage to the CD-like wafers produced inside.

At the heart of the campus stands a 90-foot-tall, three-level wafer manufacturing building, meticulously organized into five zones to support each stage of production. Thoughtful planning ensures efficiency and security, with separate entrances, locker rooms, and restroom cores along the concourse. Sustainability is embedded in the design—a dedicated industrial wastewater treatment building filters and reuses water to minimize environmental impact.

The production process, from raw materials to silicon pulling, cutting, polishing, and testing, demands absolute precision. Structural solutions mitigate movement and vibration, supporting column-free clean rooms. Page’s process engineers optimized every detail, from conveyor systems to Class 1 clean rooms, ensuring seamless operations. A glass viewing room offers visitors a firsthand look at innovation in action.

A pivotal economic & technological investment

The facility, which has created over 1,500 jobs, is revitalizing the Sherman community. Its administrative workspace features a clean, modern design that complements the building’s impressive scale, while a balcony offers sweeping views of Sherman’s rolling hills. Beyond the facility itself, its economic impact is evident—new housing, schools, and retail developments are rapidly emerging, shaping a thriving future for the region.
