Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute
One of the nation’s top-ranked children’s hospitals now offers adolescent and young adult cancer patients an innovative outpatient experience designed to meet both their medical and social needs. Collaborating with medical staff, patients, families, and the Fowler family—whose daughter’s memory inspired the institute—Page created a healing environment that enhances treatment while attracting top cancer researchers and physicians.
The design transforms the eighth floor of Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital into a “journey of light and healing.” A 60-foot-long illuminated welcome wall guides patients from the lobby to treatment wings and decentralized care stations, with stops including waiting areas, meeting rooms, a pharmacy, and a teen lounge for social connection or quiet retreat.
The experience extends beyond treatment spaces with Angie’s Garden, a rooftop retreat featuring animal sculptures and landscaped seating. Thoughtfully designed for comfort and community, this space redefines cancer care for young patients.
