Fulton County Library System
Page has served the Fulton County Library System in Georgia for over 15 years as the designer of their system-wide wayfinding standards. Implementation is nearly complete across the FCLS network of 34 library branches. This rewarding work is part of a local library renewal initiative seeking to improve each branch’s experience, accessibility, and usefulness to their respective neighborhoods.
Signage and wayfinding
The Central Library, the flagship branch, was designed by famed architect Marcel Breuer and opened in 1980. As part of its remarkable makeover, Page implemented wayfinding strategy throughout and created a towering exterior digital experience as the crowning gem of the redesigned public plaza.
Serving as a local Downtown Atlanta landmark and communication medium, the tower and its media strategy beckons visitors inside to browse the shelves, research data, or attend educational programming. This modern clock tower highlights that the Central Library isn’t a place simply to house books; it’s a cultural and educational center vital to the neighborhood.
The 27-foot digital tower boasts 342 square feet of NanoLumens® LED video display modules (a whopping 512 of them in total!). The plaza's lighting and the sculpted Central Library letters are designed to auto-coordinate in color, in real-time, with the new tower's four-sided video display.
Wayfinding System
A consistent, modular, and flexible signage system was developed, identifying brand marks, layouts, and materials while offering customizable color palettes to match each library’s design. A well-designed signage system and guidelines are more than wayfinding—they offer familiarity, enhance accessibility, and strengthen identity.
